Minneapolis -- For years, PETA has been ranking the most vegetarian-friendly ballparks in Major League Baseball. In fact, this year, PETA picked Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park as the winner months before the Phillies went on to capture the World Series crown. Now, PETA has named the Vikings' Metrodome number four in the organization's first-ever rankings of the top five most vegetarian-friendly stadiums in the NFL.
The Metrodome offers Vikings faithful an array of delicious and satisfying vegetarian options, including Gardenburgers and veggie subs and salads from Blimpie's. And traditional fan favorites such as peanuts, popcorn, pretzels, and fries are perfect for vegetarians or even nonvegetarians who are looking to cut down on their meat intake.
Rounding out the list of winners in descending ranking are Qualcomm Stadium (San Diego Chargers), McAfee Coliseum (Oakland Raiders), Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia Eagles), and the Green Bay Packers' Lambeau Field. Honorable mention goes to the Washington Redskins' FedEx Field and Paul Brown Stadium, home of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Each team will receive a framed certificate and a congratulatory letter from PETA.
"With all the delicious meat-free fare at the Metrodome, the Purple People Eaters are quickly becoming the Purple Veggie Eaters," says PETA Assistant Director Dan Shannon. "The best way that fans can tackle their health problems and score some points for animals at the same time is to give these great vegetarian options a try."
