Los Angeles -- "Stop being a moron, and start getting skinny," says Skinny Bitch coauthor Rory Freedman about what readers can expect when they crack the cover of her irreverent, best-selling new vegan cookbook, Skinny Bitch in the Kitch, which makes no bones about the fact that meat is responsible for causing extreme animal suffering and making humans fat and sick. Freedman, a former Ford Models agent who describes herself as a "self-taught know-it-all," will discuss the health and animal-related benefits of going vegetarian, while gourmet chef Tal Ronnen of VegAdvantage cooks up delicious complimentary vegan fare from Freedman's cookbook. The event is sponsored by peta2 and the UCLA student group Bruins for Animals.

Date:  Tuesday, April 29
Time:  7 p.m.
Place: The Grand Salon, Kerckhoff Hall, UCLA

"If you can't take one more day of self-loathing, you're ready to hear the truth: You cannot keep shoveling the same crap into your mouth every day and expect to lose weight," writes Freedman on the Skinny Bitch Web site.
