You Did It!
ANIMAL TIMES® READERS ARE HELPING THE ANIMALS

ANIMAL RIGHTS TV SERIES
Start your own animal rights TV series, urges Jim Brown of Compassionate Living, which has a half-hour weekly series on two major cable systems in San Diego.
“Call your local cable TV service and ask for an application to broadcast PETA videotapes on its community access channel,” says Jim. “Air time is free. Promote your local group by adding your logo/ message/ phone number. We reach thousands of people every week.”
Jen Zehringer echoes Jim’s enthusiasm. She has aired PETA’s 30-minute video “The Diner” on cable TV in Houston and says some people “stopped eating meat instantly.” Also available is PETA’s wrenching “North Carolina Pig Farm Investigation” video, narrated by actor James Cromwell.
“Take advantage of this wonderful way to help billions of animals,” says Jen.

VEGAN VOWS
Stacy Lynne Cole and Matthew Theodore Elliott
of White Plains, New York, made their wedding reflect their animal advocacy. Their beloved dog Zeus was the ringbearer, and two vegan chefs created an incredibly elegant banquet that left their guests in awe—and educated!

GIFT MEMBERSHIPS
PETA supporters Molly and Hank Goldmann take great pleasure in giving all their friends and acquaintances PETA memberships. “It’s a wonderful way to teach others about animals,” says Molly.

Free Fur Giveaway
PETA handed out fur coats and hats to homeless people in Baltimore, Md., during the first frost. The skins had been donated to us by former fur-wearers and were further devalued by a red band painted around one sleeve. Animals should never be fashion victims—and the only people who have any excuse for wearing even old furs are those truly struggling to survive.

Congratulations! You convinced a colleague to retire her raccoon coat! Remind her that she can donate it to PETA. She’ll get a tax deduction—and a clear conscience—knowing we’ll put it to good use.

islamicconcern.com
Our Web site islamicconcern.com explores the gentle teachings of this faith and the impact of modern farming methods on Islamic ideals. Factory-farmed meat from industrialized countries and even meat advertised as “halal” from India (where Islam is the second most popular religion) can violate Islamic reverence for life. Find out more at www.islamicconcern.com.

“PETA Cuties” Serve Tofutti at World Dairy Expo
PETA members delivered dairy-free “Tofutti Cuties”—the soy dessert that is too delicious to be true—at the World Dairy Expo in Wisconsin. They also poured out the facts about milk—it’s not good for cows, who are treated like milk machines, their baby calves, who are put into veal crates, or humans, who can suffer heart disease, asthma, allergies and cancer from drinking that fatty, fiberless dairy product.

PETA's International Aid for Animals
PETA supports activists worldwide who are striving to operate basic programs to reduce extreme animal suffering. In Samui, Thailand, volunteers have started a rescue center for stray dogs and cats. PETA donated supplies, including a tattooing device to identify animals they sterilize. PETA donated money and equipment to animal protection agencies in India, like the Visakha SPCA, which rescues animals as diverse as snakes used in religious rituals with their mouths sewn shut, overburdened donkeys, injured cart buffaloes, sea turtles, parakeets and stray dogs. In Dorado, Puerto Rico, PETA is helping with funds to allow the Pro-Animal Shelter and Protection Association (APAYPA) to build an animal shelter and devise a three-year plan to get APAYPA’s services up and running. In Greece, we are helping sterilize island cats, and in the Dutch Antilles we’re helping abandoned donkeys.

Potent Stuff
Our “Lettuce Ladies” and “Broccoli Boys” got the media out when they visited Washington, D.C., to greet Capitol Hill staffers with tasty meat-free wieners. The veggie-lovers also handed out the facts—eating meat can cause impotence, because meat clogs the arteries to all organs, not just the heart.
