Are Heart Disease Charities Experimenting on Animals With Your Money?
When you donate money to the AHA, you may fund cruel, pointless experiments on animals.
Christopher Lee
What the American Heart Association (AHA) and British Heart Foundation (BHF) do to animals is really scary...
Horror icon Christopher Lee took time off from filming the new Star Wars movie to narrate PETAs heart-pounding public service announcements about the BHF and AHAs torture chamber for animals. When you donate money to the AHA, you may fund cruel, pointless experiments on animals, warns Lee in the PSA.
Ignoring reams of data from human heart patients, the AHA has injected particles of glass into dogs hearts to induce heart failure, given newborn pigs brain injuries by using pendulums to strike metal shafts inserted into their skulls, implanted electrodes in lambs hearts and heads and kept them in cages so small that they couldnt turn around.
HSFCs Heart of Stone
Animal experimenters know no bounds. In one jointly funded experiment with the AHA, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (HSFC) cut nine dogs chest cavities open and suspended their hearts on a cradle. Catheters and probes were inserted into the dogs arteries. The dogs were killed at the end of the experiment. According to the authors of the study, the experiment simply showed which areas of the heart are at risk during a heart attack.

Big-Hearted Stars Speak Out
Several popular British idols, including Annie Lennox, Twiggy, Dame Judi Dench, Gavin Rossdale of Bush, Jay Kay from Jamiroquai, writer Jilly Cooper and others, are wearing their hearts on their sleeves, or rather, theyve put their hearts up for auction. Each drew a personally designed Valentines Day card urging the BHF to stop funding animal tests.
The stars attacked the experiments, including one in which dogs chests were cut open and their blood was circulated in and out of their bodies as vivisectors tried to quickly change the blood pressure in the dogs neck arteries.

Keeping Your Heart Healthy Helps You and the Animals
Often, heart charities sink immense resources into healing the human heart after it is damaged because of the consumption of animal products and/or smoking. When you maintain a healthy heart by following a vegan diet, exercising and not smoking, you deprive animal experimenters of their reason for torturing innocent animals in a futile search for a cure for heart disease.

Be careful! Dont inadvertently pay for cruelty...
Make sure your year-end giving contribution only goes to charities that reject animal experiments! Contact PETA for a free guide to charities that do and that dont fund animal experiments.
Let the AHA, the HSFC and the BHF know why you wont be sending them any contributions:

RESCUED! Liberated Lion
|
Nayla spent years with a traveling circus, locked in a 4-foot-by-6-foot cage, allowed out only for performances. A chain around her neck had rusted and become imbedded in her skin.
PETA convinced Naylas owner to release her to a sanctuary. When Nayla reached her new home, she huddled in a corner, unused to a large space. Her caretakers coaxed her out with treats, games and toys.
Today, Nayla spends her days with her friend Sheba, another rescued lion. The girls love to groom each other, roughhouse and climb trees. |
