Silverstone Has a Heart of Gold
When fashion designer Anne Klein signed on to cosponsoran opening-night party of Broadway’s The Graduate, the star, Alicia Silverstone, agreed to wear one of Klein’s creations—then refused, after spotting a rabbit fur jacket in the designer’s catalog. The company’s CEO, John D. Idol, responded immediately, “I agree with your point of view and have today pulled the jacket off the line,” and assured Silverstone that the company will never again work with fur.

•Never let anyone pass you by in a fur without wagging a finger, shaking your head or saying or handing them something.

• Stick it to ’em! Use PETA’s anti-fur stickers to decorate everything from envelopes to notebooks to handbags. Be creative!

• Share facts about fur by writing letters to local newspapers—and complain to department stores and mail-order catalogs that offer fur items.
