Purrs & Grrrs

Purrs to Malibu, Ca. star Brandon Brooks for telling NBC-TV that its plans to do a promo for the show at Sea World were all wet. Brandon told NBC that he wouldn’t be joining the rest of the cast at the marine mammal park; the network held its promotion at an animal-free water park instead.

Grrrs to MTV’s Road Rules for sending its cast to a bullfighting school in Mexico, and, in another episode, getting cast members to chase frightened Chihuahuas around a bullring. Other episodes have featured a crocodile farm, running with the bulls and a cattle drive that ended in the deaths of four calves. Please tell the show’s producers that animal cruelty is not entertaining. Write: Mary-Ellis Bunim and Jonathan Murray, Executive Producers, Bunim/Murray Productions, 6007 Sepulveda Blvd., Van Nuys, CA 91411.

Grrrs to model Elle Macpherson for going bird-hunting with Louis Moore Bacon on his island in Peconic Bay. The Nature Conservancy manages Bacon’s 430-acre island as a “preserve”—a complete joke!

Purrs to vegan eatery Real Food Daily—with locations in West Hollywood and Santa Monica, Calif.—for dishing up donations to PETA. The restaurant sent a postcard to its customers offering to donate 25% of the price of their next meal to PETA. Please ask your favorite restaurant to do the same!

Purrs to tennis legend Martina Navratilova for donating her winnings from Celebrity Jeopardy to PETA.
