PETA Blogger

Position Objective:

Create a window into PETA Europe’s daily goings-on and campaigns by writing and posting creative and interesting content on PETA’s blog.

Term of Employment:

Full-time

Reports to:

Director of PETA Europe Ltd

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Sift through PETA’s doings and other interesting animal and celebrity news on a daily basis with an eye for what angles could be taken on stories to make the most compelling content for consideration for PETA’s blog
  • Write witty and engaging blogs on topics ranging from PETA’s naked demonstrations to regulatory testing on animals; from foie gras to the Queen’s support of the cruel fur industry
  • Create and maintain relationships with other bloggers and pitch them relevant content from PETA
  • Respond to questions and comments from readers of the blog
  • Track and analyze Web traffic, coverage from other blogs, and user interactivity, with the goal of making changes in strategy in order to maximize success
  • Write News Releases, Letters to the Editor, and other projects as assigned
  • Coordinate online marketing projects as assigned
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Previous exceptional writing experience, which may include writing for blogs, newspapers, magazines, or other publications
  • Previous Web writing experience and knowledge of Search Engine Optimization
  • Thorough knowledge of the blogosphere
  • College degree in a related field or several years of equivalent experience
  • Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional manner
  • Ability to make sound judgments and work independently
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and campaigns
  • Supportive position vis-à-vis PETA’s philosophy and ability to professionally advocate PETA’s positions on issues
  • Adherence to a vegetarian lifestyle
  • Ability to professionally advocate PETA’s positions on issues
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization
